About Us
Kicks Against Cancer (KAC) is a not-for-profit organization founded in Cornelius, NC serving the greater Mecklenberg area. The organization raises funds to support and financially assist families in the soccer community whose child has been diagnosed and is presently battling cancer.
The goal of our organization is to financially assist families and ease the burden of medical and living expenses during the fight against cancer. We are raising donations through fund-raising campaigns, individual, and corporate donations.
Kicks Against Cancer is an approved 501(C)(3) Non Profit with the Internal Revenue Service and can accept tax-deductible donations.
Mission Statement
Kicks Against Cancer's mission is to provide financial assistance to members of the soccer community, past and present, and their families who are battling cancer. The organization will help pay for cancer related bills through grants given from donations.
Founder's Statement
Cancer is a word that has been with me since my early teenage years when my mother was diagnosed with Ovarian Stage 3 cancer. My mom, Pat (or Patricia) has been fighting cancer for the better part of her life, and has won, and continues to win.
Her latest diagnosis was over 6 years ago when she was diagnosed with Bladder Stage 4 cancer and the doctors gave her 18 months to live. Well, my mom is alive today and continues to beat cancer over and over with much help and love from my father.
Unbeknown to her until recently, she carries a gene abnormality called Lynch Syndrome which makes her more prone to certain types of cancers. This gene abnormality is hereditary, which means I could also be affected at some point in my life, along with my children. This knowledge leads me to this charity idea I came up with called Kicks Against Cancer.
I originally started Kicks Against Cancer as a soccer training charity (I love soccer!) with the thought that I would offer discounted soccer training and pass along any fees collected to families that may need help with their childís cancer related bills. Now I want to expand and build upon that idea. Kicks Against Cancer's goal is to be the leading Soccer Cancer charity in the United States and be the first to be able to provide monetary grants to those families in need of financial assistance with their cancer related medical bills. Together, with your help, we can make a difference for a family in need!
